VOL School Food Drive One of the Most Successful Ever At the end of each school year, students are asked to bring in non-perishable food items for the St. Vincent DePaul Food Bank as part of a school-wide competition. The classroom that brings in the most food items wins a pizza party. Students love the pizza party reward, but even more so, the idea of feeding the needy of our parish. Students were reminded that children who receive free lunch at school during the year would now have to be fed at home all summer, which can put a strain on families. Thanks to the enormous generosity of VOL students and parents, the food drive generated over 3200 food items and $56, which made this drive one of the most successful in VOL history! Congratulations to Denise Warrington’s 5th grade students, who brought in 127 items, and Emily Hamilton’s first grade students, who collected 343 items. Thanks to all who helped make this project a huge success!
