March 27, 2016 Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord Views From The Pews 2 Did You Know? I have received more compliments about the homily I gave two weekends ago than I have ever received before. Several of you say it was “excellent.” In a recent national poll, 46% of American Catholics said they believe the government should do more to reduce the income differences between rich and poor. Diane says, “Your homilies are always good, Father Mike, but this one was exceptional.” “Thanks.” Father Mike Anonymous #1 says it was “excellent” and she added it prompted “a conversation between her husband and her.” “Wow! I love that. I wish my homilies prompted conversations more frequently.” Anonymous #2 writes, “I have always hated and tried to ignore my past. It was shameful to say the least. I did everything I could to bury it deep. Thank you for helping me to understand that I can turn my bad past into a beautiful tomorrow. If St. Paul and St. Augustine did it, I believe I can too. My past is kinda like St. Augustine’s but I think my past is not nearly as bad as St. Paul’s. There is hope for me.” “My homily was entitled: ‘Good Stewards Know Bad Pasts Can Make Great Futures.’ I talked about how I learned from St. Paul, St. Augustine and my wife, Kacky, before she died to turn the problems of my past, including my sins, into opportunities for developing sympathy and empathy for others and their problems and, in so doing, reach out to serve them with Christian love. I’m delighted so many of you found the homily helpful. I almost threw it into File 13 because I thought it was too close in content to other homilies I have given. I guess I need to trust the Holy Spirit a little more.” Father Mike Days of Mercy Every Wednesday at Visitation of Our Lady Church 5:15 pm - 6:15 pm Confessions & Divine Mercy Chaplet 6:30 pm Evening Prayer or Mass* 7:15 pm Adult Faith Formation *Mass will be celebrated on the following evenings: June 29, September 14, November 2 & November 16 Office Closed The Pastoral Center will be closed Monday, March 28th for the Easter Holidays.
