Catherine writes , “ I am an old lady . I will be 78 soon . I can ’ t seem to get through fast days any longer . How big a sin is that ?”
“ There is no sin . We are required to fast only until we turn sixty . Then , it is optional . Even for people who are required to fast , breaking it is not a mortal sin .”
One of our Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist asks , “ Father Mike , would you tell people who go to Communion not to gulp the precious blood . Tell them to take a small sip . Otherwise , we run out and some Communicants won ’ t get the Precious Blood .”
“ I don ’ t need to add anything to what you said . You said it well .”
A second Extraordinary Minister adds , “ Father , would you ask women not to wear lipstick that smears when they come to Communion . It gets on the purificators and we cannot get it off .”
“ Again , I don ’ t need to add a word .”
