John Suggests I pass on part of a column
Fr. Larry wrote in last week’s St. John
Bosco bulletin. It gives the Church’s
position on what is and what is not
considered meat when we abstain from meat on Fridays
during Lent. Here it is.
“Meat does not include eggs, milk products or
condiments made of animal fat. It does not include meat
juices and liquid foods made from meat. Thus, such
foods as chicken broth, consommé, soups cooked or
flavored with meat, meat gravies and sauces, as well as
seasonings or condiments made from animal fat are not
forbidden. So it is permissible to use margarine and
lard. Even bacon drippings which contain little bits of
meat may be poured over lettuce as seasoning.”
Murray asks, “Does VOL have electronic giving?”
“Yes. If you would like to give electronically,
please call the Pastoral Center @ 347-2203. Electronic
giving is very easy to do.”

On a typical Sunday, more than 70% of Catholics do
not attend Mass.
Fr. Mike
In this time of Lent we should always make extra
space for God. We do this most especially by spending
time in prayer. In that vain, I would like to invite each
you to attend Evening Prayer each Friday at 5:30 pm in
the Church. The Deacons and myself will be praying together before mass and invite you to join us to consecrate
the Evening to our God.
P.S. Don’t forget about The Miracle Man discussion,
it’s never too late to join.

St. Joachim Family Expo & Craft Show
The event will be held on Saturday, March 14th and Archbishop Aymond will be
attending. Reservations for vendors are now being accepted. There is no cost for a vendors booth and
this is a great opportunity for vendors to distribute information on their product or service and/or give a
demonstration.
For crafters that want to sell their wares, the booth rental for a 10x10 booth is $25.00. Space is
limited so call and reserve your spot today!! We are also looking for local martial arts schools, dance
schools, elementary and high school teams to perform.
