Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Views From The Pews

Did You Know?
Edward writes, “What do you think
about the pope’s decision to make
women deacons. I hope you believe the
way I do that there has already been too
much change in the church. We need to
get back to our old ways.”
“First, Pope Francis has not said he plans to
ordain women as permanent deacons. The Pope said he
will form a commission to study the idea. Second, if you
believe we should go back to the old ways, you should
lobby for the ordination of women as deacons. There is
ample evidence that there were women deacons in the
very early Church.
Thanks for your question.”
A bunch of you say you enjoyed Father Paul Clark’s Mass
of Thanksgiving last Sunday. Frances captures the tone of
all the comments. She writes, “I love Father Paul. He just
seems so in love with God and he makes me feel the same
way. I can’t quite say what I feel but he makes me happy.
He will be a good priest.”
“Thanks for writing. Approximately 500 people
showed-up for Father Paul’s Mass, and I believe all of
them were, like you, inspired.”

Altar Flowers
The flowers that beautify the altar this weekend
were donated in memory of:
Pope Francis recently sent a message to priests. The
Pope told thousands of priests gathered in Rome for a
special celebration of the Jubilee Year that priests should
never consider themselves the boss of their flocks. Rather,
he said, priests should walk side by side with their
parishioners. Pope Francis put it this way, “A priest is not
a boss to be feared by his flock but a shepherd who walks
alongside them and calls them by name.”
