Substance Abuse Ministry Meeting
Beginning in July the SAM meetings will be held at St.
Joseph Church in Gretna. The new site will have a first floor
meeting room and this location might be a little closer for
some. The address is 610 Sixth Street. Our first meeting
will be July 10 th at 7 PM.
Please think about what we are doing. Addiction affects
not only the one with the disease but everyone who loves
them and also the people who know them. Addiction is wide
spread and a topic of conversation with everyone these
days. It cannot be keep a secret any longer and is present in
the lives of people we know. The SAM ministry is the
spiritual component for the recovery. Bill W., when he
found Alcohol Anonymous, made the help of a higher power
one of the first steps in his program. We will work with you
on that part and we can give referrals to places for
detoxification and treatment. We also can give referrals to
those affected by love ones of those who need treatment.
The Substance Abuse Ministry (SAM) offers a safe,
confidential place for people touched by addiction to share
their personal experiences with others. SAM provides
general educational information about addiction through
professionals in this field and is open to people of all faiths.
The ministry is open to both those afflicted with or
affected by substance addiction.
