Did You Know?
A bunch of you ask, “How was your trip
to Ireland?”
“It was magical. The people of
Ireland are the friendliest people I have
ever met. And, I have been all over the world.
The scenery was beautiful. It reminded me of the
most beautiful parts of Middle Tennessee.
HOWEVER, it drizzled every day and the temps were
in the 50’s and 40’s. There were days I yearned for New
Orleans’ heat and humidity.”
Father Mike
Father Mike kissed the Blarney Stone while I was in
Ireland. It was a lot tougher than I thought. First, it’s
necessary to climb up to the roof of Blarney Castle. The
castle is eight stories high. The interior stairwell is
serpentine. It’s not much wider than the normal human
and the steps are about half the depth of a human foot.
So, it’s a tough climb. The stone is on the roof. To kiss
the stone, a person is required to lie on his back on the
metal rods and bend backward to kiss the stone. As you
maneuver to get on your back, you see through the spaces
between the rods to the ground, eight stories below. Was
it fun? Not the word I would use, but it was worth it.

The Blarney Stone (Irish: Cloch na Blarnan) is a block
of Carboniferous limestone built into the battlements of
Blarney Castle, Blarney, about 8 kilometers (5 mi) from
Cork, Ireland. According to legend, kissing the stone
endows the kisser with the gift of the gab and great
eloquence.

Eucharistic Adoration
Christ suffer ed and died for Y OU. His
love for you is unfathomable. It’s time to take
time for Him. Visit Him during Eucharistic
Adoration on Thursday, July 27th in the Day
Chapel.
As you know school is not in session during the
summer months, therefore the school children are not
attending adoration. Any time you can give to fill in those
time slots are greatly appreciated. The Blessed Sacrament
should never be left unattended, so filling these time slots
is very important. Call the Pastoral Center at 347-2203 to
be placed on the Adoration schedule.
Drop ins are ALWAYS welcome!!
