January 17, 2016 Second Sunday in Ordinary Time Views From The Pews Anthony H. Vergona shares with us a letter his son, Anthony Jude, wrote in 1992, three years before his death. Anthony Jude suffered from disabilities. Here is part of that letter. “I want to be treated with as much compassion, OPENMINDEDNESS, kindness and EQUALIY as anyone (repeat: ANYONE) would be treated: without any condescension or preconceptions about how a person with disabilities is supposed to act, speak, think, or feel. I may have disabilities, but I am entitled to as much RESPECT and DIGNITY as anyone “normal”, which is a totally subjective concept anyway. Or, to put it another way: I am still a man. The above is aimed at the average person. My Church, pastor (Fr. Jim Curran), Archdiocese, etc. have always treated me wonderfully.” “Thanks to both dad and Son for sharing with us. We can all learn and do better.” Father Mike Office Closed The Pastoral Center will be CLOSED Monday, January 18th in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday.
