December 17, 2017 Third Sunday of Advent Views From The Pews 2 Did You Know? Two more of you, Shane and O.B, say they would like all 5 pm Mass goers to vote on whether to move the 5 pm Vigil Mass to 4 pm. That makes three votes so far. All three are yesses. “Thanks for your interest. As I said when we started the process, I will conduct a vote if 33 people ask for it. We have averaged 251 people at our 5 o’clock Mass the past two weeks. So, 33 requests would be a low bar. It would be only 13% of the total people attending the Mass.” Aaron asks, “Father, what do you think about the pope calling for a change in the words of the Our Father. Don’t you think that is ridiculous? It has been that way it is forever.” “Pope Francis says the words “And lead us not into temptation” are the result of an incorrect translation. He argues that the words imply that Jesus MIGHT lead us into temptation. He further argues that God could not lead us into temptation; it would be against his nature. And, of course, that is correct. I’m open to the change. Translation errors do happen. In the translation from Aramaic to Hebrew to Greek to Latin to English, an error might have occurred. So, I am open to change. Change, if it leads to growth, is always good.” Father Mike Pastoral Center Holiday Office Hours Wednesday, December 20th & Thursday, December 21st 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. Friday, December 22nd, - Tuesday, December 26th.
