22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time
Views From The Pews
Maybe two dozen of you commented on
my phone calls asking for prayers for
Ashley and for Sadie. Here is one of
them. Bea says, “Thank you Father Mike.
That is what Church is all about or at least should be.
Praying for those girls with you made me feel close to
God.”
“Thank you for your comments. Keep praying
and I will keep you informed.”
Many of you have kind words about Archbishop
Aymond’s celebration of Mass at the 50th Anniversary of
VOL School. Liz writes, “The Archbishop is terrific. At
one and the same time he is down to earth and close to
God. I like the combination.”
“Very well said. Thank you.”
Many of you also have kinds words for the 50th
Anniversary reception. Max puts it this way. “The crowd
and the food were great. I am proud to be part of the
VOL family.”
“So am I.”
There are a lot of compliments for my homily on the
virtue of commitment to God. Ashley writes, “Your
homily was fabulous. It made me think a lot about my
life. I plan to change and to keep up my commitment.
Thank You.”
“You are welcome.”
Glenda asks, “I saw a friend who now lives in Texas
receive Communion and before she consumed the host
she dipped the host in the wine. I thought this was a good
idea but have never seen this before. What is your
opinion?
“Dipping the consecrated host into the
consecrated wine is called intinction. It is permitted, but
I prefer drinking from a cup. It is a truer representation
of what took place at the Last Supper.”
