August 14, 2016 Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time Views From The Pews 2 Did You Know? Anonymous writes, “I am a 75-year-old widow on a fixed income with no help from the state or federal government. I live alone. My air conditioner went out last week. It was 95 degrees inside. I did not know who to call. So, I decided to look inside our church bulletin. I found an ad, called and told them where I saw the ad. They sent a technician within the hour. He repaired my problems and did not even charge me.” “Thanks, anonymous. I’m always delighted to hear about people who walk Jesus’ talk.” Many of you have kind remarks about my weekend homily. Here is an example of a common theme among the remarks. Susan says, “I got to admit I often drift off during homilies. I want to stay focused but I don’t. This time I did. Your stories make the difference. They make a spiritual point and I keep listening because I want to know how they come out.” “Thanks for the compliment. I figure Jesus told stories to make spiritual points. So, it should be okay for me. By the way, I plan soon to start putting my weekend homilies on our parish website. I invite everyone to watch and listen. I encourage critiques as well as compliments. I like the compliments. I learn from the critiques.” Fr. Mike CCD REGISTRATION Registrations WILL NOT be accepted on the first night of CCD.
