Quite a few of you praise Bishop
Cherie’s Good Friday homily here.
Here’s one parishioner’s comment. It
captures the central theme of most of
the comments.
Elsie writes, “I loved what the Bishop said but I mostly
like the way he said it. It made me feel very close to Our
Lord.”
“I agree. It was a moving homily.”
“It’s a dilemma. The Noon Mass is designed for
little children. So, crying children are part of the
landscape and, honestly, crying does not bother me.
However, I agree that if crying persists, parents should
understand they are still fulfilling their Mass obligation
if they take their child outside until the crying stops.”
Many of you love our Easter altar decorations. Samantha
writes, “The arrangement of the flowers on the altar is
beautiful. Just the right amount too. It is really nice.”
“I agree with you. On behalf of the ladies who
did it all, Carmelitte Venturella, Josie Frank and Lisa
Oncale you are very welcome.”
Elliott writes, “ I come to the Easter Vigil every year. It is
always magnificent. I also come every year looking
forward to hearing your ragman homily again. It comes
close every year to making me tear up. I was disappointed
when you said you had a new homily this year, but the
new homily was terrific. I almost teared up this year
when you talked about your wife at the end of it.”
“Thanks for your kind words.”
Frank writes, “Tell Father Daniel the Easter Vigil was
superb. You said at the end of the Mass that he was
responsible.”
“He was responsible. It was superb, and he
deserves great praise.”
Anonymous writes, “I came to confession for the first
time in 42 years. I came because I hear so much about
Pope Francis saying Jesus is all about mercy. I was scared
to death, but you made me feel like a million dollars.
Thank you. It was a great experience.”
“You’re welcome. I try to show God’s mercy to
all who come to confession, but I try even harder when
someone like yourself comes to confession after so many
years. I can only imagine the amount of courage that
must take.”
Here is a shortened version of a note from Anonymous. “I
attended the Easter Sunday Mass @ 12:00. I thought it
was a wonderful Mass. However, they had a child in the
cry room that was screaming from the top of its lungs
from almost the beginning of the Mass to the end.
Everyone was just looking around wondering when they
would remove that child. It was very disturbing...I think
you should mention at Mass how disturbing it is for
everyone to hear…”
Continued above….
Elmer writes, “I get so angry when the people who come
late to Mass think it is okay to park in the fire areas. If
they want a good spot they should come early like I do.
There were illegally parked cars all over the place at the
10:00 Easter mass on Sunday. There were so many that
I’d bet a fire truck could not have gotten in if it needed to.
It was awful.”
“It is a recurring problem, especially at
Christmas and Easter. I put notices on the windshields
of the illegally parked cars reminding the drivers that
parking in Fire Zones potentially puts lives at risk. I
sincerely hope they will not do it again. There are
always parking spots available in the lot in front of
Padre Hall II. It is under a two minute walk from PH II
to the church building.”
