Anonymous writes, “Please help me
understand fiscal accounting. How is it
possible for the cumulative income to go
down and drop 32 K in a week (data from
bulletin) even if total yearly budget is adjusted $50K for
remainder of fiscal year?”
“Check the data again. From April 5th to April
th
12 cumulative income INCREASED from $663,199.13
to $708,663.83. The only lines that changed were the
BUDGET lines. We adjusted our budget UP because of
unanticipated repairs and replacements at school. Those
are capital expenses, not operating expenses; but the
Archdiocese does not have provisions for a capital
budget. So, we adjusted our operating budget UP to
reflect our new capital needs.
Bottom line: income is up but so are expenses.
So, we revised up the expense side of our budget. That’s
what you saw in the bulletin.
I hope that clarifies the matter for you. If it
doesn’t, please give me a call at 347-2203.”
If you see any of the following people, grab
them and give them a BIG HUG. Hundreds of great
parishioners and other volunteers worked on Cajun
Fest, but these are the leaders:
Neil & Gina Duplessis, Scott & Priscilla Wunderlich,
Carl, Neil Jr. & Abbie Duplessis, Raymond & Courtney
Bond, John & Christian Cassreino, Randy & Martha
Scheuermann, Danny & Stephanie Laurent and Gary &
Kit Payne.
The Big Kahunas this year (our Cajun Fest
Chairs) are Neil and Gina Duplessis. The work they did
was extraordinary.
Fr. Mike
Many, many of you ask, “How did we do at Cajun Fest?”
“God rained on our parade on Saturday; but,
overall, he SMILED on us. Saturday revenue was down
from last year’s income, but Friday and Sunday income
was up. We still don’t have final numbers. However, it
appears revenue for the weekend was up more than
$11,000 from last year’s revenue. Tentative numbers for
the weekend only are as follows.
2014
$150,855
2015
$162,515
The numbers above do not include revenue from
the sale of signs and raffle tickets. Almost all of those
sales occur before the weekend begins. Tentative
numbers for those two categories are:
Sponsorships $ 64,625
Raffle Tickets $ 39,169
I repeat: all numbers are tentative, and it’ll be
weeks before we have all of our expenses numbers.
However, I anticipate our total profit for the fair will be
approximately $160,000. All profit from Cajun Fest is
used to help pay our mortgage on Padre Hall II. The
mortgage is approximately $360,000 per year. Half of
that will come from tuitions. So, if our Cajun Fest profit
is $160,000 (a fabulous number), we will need to find
another $20,000 somewhere to pay our mortgage. I have
faith, though. God will take care of us.

Did You Know?
The approximately $65,000 in sponsorships we sold
for Cajun Fest this year was a RECORD. I use the
pronoun “we” loosely. Gary and Kit Payne did the work.
They worked tirelessly for many months and deserve our
forever thanks.
Fr. Mike
I would like to thank everyone for their prayers for
my family and me during the illness and death of my
grandmother. It is truly a blessing to know of the
prayers being offered for strength and comfort. I ask
that you continue to pray for the repose of her soul and
for our family as we prepare for the funeral.
God Bless You All!
