1. William Hawkins
2. Peace. The definition of peace is freedom
from disturbance. That’s where I want to
live. It’s hard to catch (especially as a
creative in his early 20’s), but beautiful when
caught.
3. I love music.
4. Years ago I bought tickets to Kendrick’s
Kunta’s Groove Sessions tour. I remember
having some of the most enlightening
conversations about TPAB, and meeting so
many genuine people. Then during the show
while Kendrick was performing Momma (my
favorite song off the album), Kendrick made
eye contact with me and we rapped the entire
second verse to each other. That song,
specifically that verse, gave me a lot of clarity
in a time where I was going through a huge
transition and forgetting where I was from
and who I really was. So that moment was
this huge full circle experience. That’s one of
my fondest memories.
5. In 10 years I just want to be happy. Will
Smith recently said in his interview with
Tidal that “happiness is peace, not pleasure.”
So I guess I just want to be at peace. Peace
with who I am, peace with what I’m doing
with my life, and peace with how I treat
everyone I come in contact with.
6. Donald Glover, hands down. Donald is my
favorite person. The way he thinks, how free
he is, and his creativity are all things I aspire
towards. I’d love to kick it with him for a day
just shoot the shit about philosophy, movies,
music, black America, and anything else I
could get out of him.
7. Sitting in a dimly lit room listening to
music with loved ones
8. I honestly think I’d stay in LA. The amount
of diverse, creative, eclectic, forward
thinking people here make it impossible for
you not to grow as a human being. I also
haven’t seen much of the world so that’s a
tough one to answer. But I love LA.
9. When I’ve reached the peace I talked about
in question 5.
10. The soul is what’s beneath the skin. What
makes you, you. How you make people feel.
11. Peace and understanding. And some good
ass music.
12. I love film and television and would love
to do something in that field one day. I’d love
to be a music supervisor.
13. Alone. I love people, but I’m an introvert
by nature.
14. I don’t know what this question means lol
but I don’t think anything is black and white.
We exist in the grey areas, and gotta navigate
through that shit every day. I love that
though. It takes work to understand one
person, let alone the whole world. We are
complex beings. But when someone works to
understand you and all your complexities,
and doesn’t simplify you to just “black or
white;” that’s how you know they love you.
I’m a grey boy.
