Advice for College-Bound Students
By: Sarah Borgelt
Well, it’s that time of the year again: college applications, scholarship
applications, fall sports, getting ready for the holidays. For many of us, it’s a
busy time of the year. Luckily, there are ways to make your life a bit easier.
1. Create a schedule for yourself and stick
to it.
You know that scholarship application that’s due next week? Yeah, you
should probably start working on that. For those of us who are very
involved in sports or other activities, the schedule can get a bit crazy;
however, lowering the stress level is possible. Rather than waiting for
the last minute to write that English paper, why not start on it now?
There is no time like the present! Then, when the due date comes,
you’ll already have it finished and can relax.
2. Keep those grades up!
Congratulations, you’ve made it to the final stretch! Now just make
sure to keep on moving. Not only will grades make the difference in
colleges you’re accepted to, but it will also help to determine which
scholarships you may receive. On the contrary, if you receive poor
grades, colleges do retain the right to deny you admission after
you’ve been accepted. So beware and keep those grades up!
3. Just have fun!
Senior year is stressful enough. Take some time for yourself and try
to enjoy it! This is the last year of school for some of us. In the
following year, we will be entering an unfamiliar world. Why not
make the most of the time we have left now?
