SILENCE

By Noelle Nieskens

Rose was a young girl living in a small house near the woods. One day she was getting ready for school. As she opened the door, her dog began to growl, and ran to the forest. Rose ran after him, and saw where he was standing.

Next to him, there was a girl much younger than Rose. It suddenly began to rain. Rose was getting wet, but the raindrops seemed to fall right through the girl.

"Hello", Rose said.

No answer.

"Shouldn't you be in school?"

No reply.

Rose was soaked, so she left. When she turned around to say one last thing to the girl, she found that she was gone. Rose thought it was all her imagination, and put her dog back in the house.

When she got home from school, her house was a mess. Her mother arrived at the same time Rose did, and thought there was an earthquake.

Rose went to her bedroom, her clothes were everywhere and broken picture frames and furniture littered the floor. Then, out of nowhere, was the girl, smiling. She then vanished.
