FAST FASHION

"Being naked is the #1 most sustainable option. We're #2." -Reformation

In a world where fashion trends come and go faster than ever, many people look to fast fashion as a solution to the hefty price tag of other brands. What these people do not know however, is that fast fashion destroys not only the economy but depletes earth's natural resources as well. These ethical clothing brands sell quality pieces that will withstand several generations of trends, and ultimately, will benefit the environment as well.

ALTERNATIVE BRANDS TO

#1. Reformation

Around 15% of Reformation's clothing is made out of “deadstock” fabrics. This is important, as textiles make up around 6% of U.S. trash. Reformation uses leftover and over-ordered fabrics from other designers or fabric warehouses, allowing them to reuse the materials that would have otherwise ended up in landfills. Furthermore, around 2-5% of their pieces are made from vintage clothes. Reformation buys vintage items (such as vintage denim and cashmere) from U.S. wholesalers, and transforms these pieces into newer, cuter ones. As a result, Reformation plays a key role in saving CO2 emmissions from entering the atmosphere, as remanufactured clothing saves more than 13,000 lbs of CO2 emmisions in a year.

#2. Rag & Bone

In a statement, Marcus Wainwright, chief executive officer, founder and creative director of Rag & Bone, said, “Now, more so than ever, each and every one of us has a responsibility to do our part to protect our environment. The Blue Jeans Go Green Initiative is making great strides in helping brands make a difference and we are honored to be launching this Denim Recycling Program. Honestly, I am intrigued to see if any unwanted Rag & Bone jeans are dropped off, but either way, it is a step in the right direction for our brand.”
