President Rick Icaza is
retiring after 64 years
with Local 770.
Rick Icaza joined the union in 1953 as
a box clerk. He served Local 770 as an
Organizer, a Business Representative,
Secretary-Treasurer, and President.
President Rick Icaza was a pathbreaker:
First Latino president of 770, first Latino
International Vice President of the United
Food and Commercial Workers, and
first Latino President of the L.A. County
Federation of Labor AFL-CIO.
Rick Icaza helped make UFCW a
force in the state of California,
helping pass landmark laws to
protect jobs, wages, and stop
predatory big-box stores.
