Lise said :
“ I got in such a state with it all . What is wrong with me ? Did I say something incredibly thick ? Will I ever work again ? It triggers a trail of thought that makes you question everything . I nearly gave up , I didn ’ t want to go outside . “ I am 50 now , and I feel I am on the wrong side of trying to get an employed role . When you get ghosted by somebody it makes you introspective and everything has been magnified in the last 18 months .
According to the research , it took 40 percent of these respondents several weeks or months to get over being ghosted .
So why are more candidates being ghosted than ever before ? Tribepad CEO Dean Sadler cited the current state of the pandemic jobs market .
Sadler said :
“ The whole planet has been upended in the past 18 months and it ’ s inevitable that the impact of that is far-reaching . The HR and recruitment industry is under intense pressure with the job market contracting and expanding at an incredible pace . Nonetheless , it ’ s disheartening that , as a result , people are being ghosted while applying for jobs at potentially one of the most stressful times of their lives .”
Tribepad has launched its # EndGhosting campaign in a bid to tackle the problem . It ’ s encouraging companies to register their pledge to end the practice and outline the steps they are taking to do so .
Sports betting and gaming group Entain is signed up to the scheme .
Talent director , Graeme Johnson , said :
“ To be clear , there is no excuse for ghosting a job applicant – not even economics .”
