The ‘ Blueprint for Better Regulation ’ has already won the favour of numerous politicians and health officials , who have praised the report for offering substantiated changes to existing policies . Former Labour MP Sir Kevin Barron said : “ The ongoing consultation on TRPR is an ideal opportunity to highlight how less harmful products have improved public health . “ The current lowest recorded smoking rates have been achieved by numerous avenues including switching from tobacco to less harmful products . “ The opportunity to bring in legislation to further encourage the move should not be missed .” Also in support is Former Health Minister Sir Norman Lamb who said : “ The TRPR review offers a great opportunity to improve public health across the UK by tackling misinformation about vaping .
“ It also presents an opportunity for the industry to build on the evidence-based approach , which the Government has consistently taken on vaping products .” Dunne believes the government will remain steadfast in its mission to reduce the number of adult smokers , highlighting that , as an industry , we ’ ve become a crucial tool for policymakers . He stressed that a lack of expert knowledge can lead to ineffective regulations , as not all politicians may understand the ramifications of restrictions such as flavour bans and tax hikes . However , after years of collaboration and education , the UK government has come to understand the significance of vaping and its role in harm reduction . “ They understand that vaping is a cornerstone of success when it comes to the smoke-free Britain goals ,” said Dunne . “ I think the world is looking at them and they understand that … there is a real passion
around vaping and pushing that positive health message that I don ’ t see dissipating .” The UKVIA is now calling for industry leaders and local businesses to speak up and urge policymakers to adopt the changes laid out in the report . Andrej Kuttruf , CEO of vape retailer EVAPO , said the UKVIA had “ worked diligently ” on the blueprint and said he hoped the UK government would come up with improved regulations to promote vaping and save more smokers ’ lives .
