When it comes to squonk mods , practicality and portability are a given . They offer vapers a chance to retain the flavour and the clouds of an RDA , with the added benefit of not having to re-drip every five to 10 puffs . They come in many forms , and the one I am reviewing today is a fully mechanical , single 18650 variation . Mechanical mods require knowledge about building coils and battery safety , so make sure you look into this if you are new to them . The Vandy Vape that we all know and love has paired up with El Mono Vapeador to create this stunningly stylish squonker , designed with advanced vapers in mind . A tiny , pocket-sized kit , the Requiem looks and feels the part . With straight edges , a matte black exterior and gold accents , this kit sets out to impress . Build quality is on point . Everything is crafted to precision : both the doors and the interior components all fit snug with no loose connections or rattling . The fire button is very responsive and has a satisfyingly ‘ clicky ’ sound when using it . To avoid accidental firing , there is a locking mechanism inside the device that can swivel and therefore block the connection needed to initiate vaping . The weight of this kit , even before inserting the battery , is impressive . Its shape is rather boxy and features sharp edges that give the Requiem a robust feel and strong sense of careful quality . The Requiem takes a single 18650 battery . Due to the fact that this kit is a mechanical mod , there is no display showing battery life / wattage / voltage etc . I found that a freshly charged battery lasted me about a day of regular vaping when using a single 0.28Ohm coil . This kit includes the super-simple Requiem RDA and comes with two different top caps , one black and the other a transparent amber colour . It also contains a choice of beauty rings that add to the stylish nature of this device , again in similar colours to the top caps . This RDA comes with a bottom feed squonk pin already installed , ready to go but you can also fit a regular 510 pin if you are planning on using this RDA on a standard device . The Requiem RDA sits well on the mod and the top cap was rather difficult to open , meaning it won ’ t
come loose throughout the day . In terms of size , the RDA is rather petite and requires just a single coil to get it going . I found the deck incredibly easy to build on and wicking was equally straightforward . I felt that the 510 drip tips offered a slightly tighter draw when compared to typical RDAs that require 810 drip tips - therefore increasing the flavour production whilst also creating a warm inhale . The flavour on this RDA was second to none . It seemed to really accentuate dessert flavours , and also managed to convey sour flavours incredibly well too . This RDA works best with high VG e-liquid , as thinner eliquid can make it prone to leaking . When pressing the squonk bottle , the liquid is evenly distributed over the cotton and the coil , and only requires a light push to fill it to a satisfactory level . This kit includes a choice of two different coloured squonk bottles , both made with high grade silicone . One of the most interesting features of the squonk bottles themselves would be the three methods of refilling them . Anyone who has used squonkers before will most likely have encountered difficulty when trying to top them up . However the bottles in this kit can be filled in a few ways . Firstly , by removing the top , squeezing down the middle , then replacing the top . Secondly , you can insert the nib of an e-liquid dropper straight in to the tube that feeds into the bottle itself . The third way ( and my favourite way ) simply involves opening a rubber gasket near to the top of the silicone bottle and filling via the hole – super simple and no mess . Overall , this kit was very well presented and had a completely ‘ next level ’ build quality with an unbelievable hold . I really was in awe of the elegant , yet simple , look of this device . The RDA was a doddle to build on . Flavour was perfectly presented and the narrow airflow and 510 drip tip further exaggerated the warm inhale – something that is a definite plus for me . All in all , a great option for mech users , and certainly one of the best squonkers I have been lucky enough to try .
