My name is Nick Sadri and I am the proud editor of the VJCL this year . I am incredibly thankful for this opportunity to grow as both a writer and an individual .
A few years ago , as an unbothered freshman , I joined my school ’ s chapter of JCL . At the time , I was entirely unaware of the impact Latin would have on my life . A student at a school for math and science , language seemed of marginal importance to me . Regardless , I stuck with the JCL ; over time , it proved to be unexpectedly captivating . Finding a newfound interest in the Classics , I attended my first State Convention in the same year . It was a surprising , eye-opening , and surreal experience being surrounded by people just like me . People who , regardless of their specific journey , fostered a love for Latin . The insightful conversations I had with other members of the VJCL that day reaffirmed my passion for the language .
Since that day , I have never looked back . The Latin community catalyzed my journey for a purpose , and I am eternally grateful for how it brought me closer to science . Now , I am blessed to have this opportunity to contribute to the same organization that contributed so much to me .
I hope that throughout your consumption of the winter Forum , you are able to feel the same connection to Latin that I do every day . Enjoy !
Di vos incolumes custodiant , Nick Sadri VJCL Editor
