Salvete omnes! I'm JOCELYN ROBERTSON, your 2017-18 VJCL EDITOR. I am a sophomore in AP Latin V at Classical Cottage School, and I have attended six VJCL Conventions and four NJCL Conventions. I've also played Certamen for six years.
I knew I wanted to hold some office in the JCL after taking on the position of Editor for my local Latin Club. Originally, I had chosen this position because I love writing, and this seemed like a natural position. After serving as Editor for CCS one year, I added the office of Historian to my duties, finding myself the Latin Club member most involved and invested in the JCL. Helping lead the CCS Latin Club at the 2016 VJCL Convention made me realize that I wanted to hold state office, so in August I decided to run for VJCL Editor. I'm so excited to have an opportunity to serve an organization that has given so much to me.
I think the thing I love the most about the JCL is the community. The JCL is easily the most welcoming of all the organizations I have ever been involved in. I've made many good friends, and it's always fun to see how many people love Latin as much as I do! I am continually impressed with the JCL's community of welcoming, Latin-loving students. I hope that all of you have a similar experience.
If you have any questions about the Forum, or about the JCL in general, please don't hesitate to approach me or any of the other officers! Though we may seem slightly intimidating, we are here to help!
