I'm KARUNA, I'm a junior at Washington-Lee High School, I'm in IB Latin Part I (so I suppose Latin V), and I'm honored to serve as your 2017-18 VJCL SECRETARY. This past VJCL convention was my fourth state convention. However, I'd say I've only been involved in VJCL for two years because I never really took advantage of what JCL had to offer before that.

I knew that I wanted to run for office around a month after convention last year, once Kashi showed me that you don't have to come from a large school to run for office. I knew secretary was the position for me because (as weird as it sounds) I love taking notes! And, as a really nostalgic person myself, I really liked the idea of being the person in charge of the documents that people read to remember what happened at a certain point in time.

My favorite part about JCL is definitely the community. The JCL is a very welcoming group of people, and you meet so many nice people!

I love talking to people, so don't hesitate to send me a message over social media or come talk to me if you see me. Honestly, although we seem intimidating at times, the officers love talking to people and getting to know other JCLers. Don't be afraid to talk to us! Make sure to take advantage of all that JCL has to offer, as cheesy as that sounds.
