Ave, viator! My name is DANIEL FISHER and I currently am serving as the VJCL PRESIDENT. This past state convention has been my third, with my third national convention coming up in 2018. I started to seriously think about running for office after the 2017 NJCL convention because I felt that is when I realized I wanted to give back to a group of people that have given me so much. Additionally, I think if there was one piece of advice I could give to JCLers, it would be to be yourself. There are people out there who will appreciate and accept who you are everywhere in the JCL, as long as you look. Outside of the JCL, I perform in my school's most mature concert band playing French Horn and in its marching band playing Mellophone.
Hey what's up Latin nerds? I'm AMY GEORGE, I'm a junior at Riverbend High School, and I'm in Latin IV. I'm ridiculously excited for this year because I have the honor of being your FIRST VICE PRESIDENT. I knew I wanted to run for this position when I found out its main job is driving up chapter membership numbers - that basically translates to talking to people and making new friends all over the state! I'm planning on visiting schools to help them start JCL chapters (classier AND more effective than email), and also hosting a classics themed camp for little kids this summer in several locations across Virginia. My advice to all of you for your next year in the VJCL is to talk to people, even if you're shy. Every single person I've met is super nice, and interesting in one way or another. Here's to a great year!
