Since our Spring Council Meeting in early March, I have been extremely busy! I facilitated February, March, and April Club of the Month contests, and posted the results on the VJCL Facebook page and social media. I participated in the VJCL on Skype call on March 24th, during which I spoke with JCLers from all over the state about being an officer, and shared what I have been doing lately. I attended two Latina Loquenda hosted by Alicia Lopez of SSSAS on April 6, and May 4th, where I urged VJCLers to register for Nationals and the VJCL tour – as well as to submit to Club of the Month for that month. I attended the North Carolina JCL Convention over the weekend of April 13-14, during which I reunited with NCJCL friends from Nationals, as well as made many new NCJCL friends! I spent all of National Classics Week on our social media, hosting livestreams and fun social media contests such as “Share your best Iocos Patrios (Dad Jokes)!” I also helped advertise the upcoming filming of the promotional video that Jocelyn is planning at State Certamen tryouts on June 3rd. I planned and organized a toiletry drive for VSCL State Finals Certamen on April 21st. Unfortunately I was sick the day of the event, and was unable to attend. However, my wonderful fellow officers, co-chairs, and friends helped run the service project, and I was able to donate over 350 toiletry items to The Lamb Center in Fairfax, Virginia on May 12th. I have been preparing heavily for spirit at National Convention, and have planned three spirit castra so far on June 23 (Riverbend High School), July 12 and July 18 (Flint Hill School). I hope I see y’all at spirit castra to help in preparation for Nationals – and I especially hope to see you at Nationals!
