The Qualities
What’s your temperament?
Phlegmatic.
The Real Questions
Why do you love the JCL?
The JCL has introduced
me to so many incredible
people and given me so
many opportunities that
I don’t know who I would
be without it.
What classical hero do you
want to fight?
Jason.
As a new board member,
why should we, the VJCL,
trust you?
I truly care about the
best interests of the JCL,
and you can be sure that
I will do whatever I can
to improve it.

The Numbers
veryone’s been talking
about it. Astute readers
will have noticed on the
bottom-left of page two.
We, the board of the
Virginia Junior Classical
League (and our team of PR
specialists), want to put an
end to these rumors. It’s true.
We are proud to announce
that
Jocelyn
Robertson,
former VJCL President, was
elected as NJCL President
this summer!
She was required to
immediately step down from
her state office, and we’ll miss
her. This is why she did not
submit an officer report (see
pg. 5). She’ll nevertheless
be at the VJCL Convention
(November 24-25), so be sure
congratulate her there!
Emily Ye, former VJCL 1 st VP
from Thomas Jefferson High
School will fill Jocelyn’s role
as VJCL President. According
to the Constitution (of the
VJCL, not the United States
[yet]), TJ received the right
to appoint Emily’s successor,
and they have chosen Joseph
Amsbary ’20.
Many of you do not know
this legend of certamen, this
publicity whiz, so I wanted to
help the VJCL to get to know
him. I thought it only fair to
ask him the same questions
that I asked all the officers
after their elections at last
year’s VJCL convention.
