" The Birth of the VJCL Parliamentarian " By Abby “ Amendments ” Cheney , 2021-2022 VJCL Parliamentarian
A long time ago the VJCL President received a prophecy . This prophecy read that there would be a VJCL Delegate Coordinator that would steal the VJCL president ’ s office . Because of this prophecy the VJCL President ate the whole VJCL to prevent the stealing of the VJCL President ’ s office . The NJCL Parliamentarian heard of the VJCL President ' s feast and went to Virginia to talk some sense into the VJCL President . When the NJCL Parliamentarian arrived and saw the scene they shouted “ Offices cannot be held forever ! Constitutions must be upheld ! Elections must be open to all ! You are in violation of the VJCL Constitution ( Article III , Section 3 ) and the NJCL Constitution ( Article XV , Section Don ’ t Eat People ) therefore I must remove you from office and free your state !”
The NJCL Parliamentarian struck the VJCL President with the NJCL gavel . As the general VJCL poured out of the VJCL President there was a CRACK from the VJCL President ’ s head . Suddenly out came a person dressed in a button down shirt and a navy blue blazer , casually eating olives . They held a gavel as their sword and the VJCL Constitution , VJCL Manual , and an officer application as their shield .
As the dust settled the VJCL public realized that standing before them was no VJCL Delegate Coordinator , but something more powerful and scary . The Virginia Junior Classical League Parliamentarian . The VJCL Parliamentarian shouted at the VJCL President “ Sic Semper Tyrannis . We will not live under your tyranny and I will ensure that . There will be elections at VJCL Convention this year open to any VJCLer who has attended at least one convention and attends Nom Com .”
The VJCL Parliamentarian turned to the VJCL public and said " I know that many of you are scared and most of you don ’ t know the wonders of holding VJCL office , but to all I say run for VJCL office . Pre-Filing ends on Friday October 21st and Nom Com , where any qualified VJCLer with a school sponsor and another delegate representing their school can be nominated to run for VJCL office , will be held on the first day of Convention . The task may be daunting but VJCL needs you so that more tyrants like this VJCL President do not arise . So please consider your duty to the VJCL public and run for VJCL office .
