Welcome to Vive Charlie the new online satire magazine created in the wake of the horrific terrorist attack at the offices of Charlie Hebdo in Paris.
If you are reading this, then you are one of the many that has supported this project by making pledges through our Patreon page and for that we thank you. Without your support this project would not be possible; as the time, resources, commitment and costs required to deliver Vive Charlie would have been out of reach.
In a very short space of time we have assembled a professional, creative and dedicated team. We already have artists, satirists, administrators, columnists, comedians authors, publishers, lawyers, translators and web development specialists that have agreed to give their time and expertise freely to get Vive Charlie up and running.
The money you have pledged will allow us to purchase a web domain, email servers, equipment, software and materials. Until such time that the monthly pledges via Patreon reach $4,000 we anticipate that, for the first few months, we will be running at a financial loss. We would therefore encourage you to share our work on social media, with friends, and family. Please be assured that Vive Charlie has not been set up as a profit making project. 20% of all profits will be donated each month to a charitable cause, selected by you, our Patrons. The remainder of the profits will be invested in Vive Charlie, to ensure it remains advertising free, to expand our reach by promoting it online and to increase the content.
This, the first issue, is around 20 pages and includes a number of characters and features that will appear each week. Hopefully you will become very fond of the features and characters we have created and we can assure you that new characters and features will be introduced as we go along.
As already stated Vive Charlie will focus on promoting freedom of speech and freedom of expression through satire. Rest assured we are not left or right leaning, nor are we West or East leaning. Anyone and anything that is an affront to normal sensibilities is a target, whether it be overly politically correct media outlets, politicians, world leaders, religion, celebrities, sports stars or current events.
We would also like to extend on open invitation to you, our Patrons, to submit your ideas, focus areas, subjects and people that you feel deserve to be mocked, ridiculed, offended or shamed into action.
