Wish kids go on to live healthy lives.
Children from 2½ to 18 years old qualify for Make-A-Wish,
and they can be referred by the family, a medical profes-
sional or even the child themself.
The organization also works to build relationships with each
child and their families both before and after their wish is
granted.
Wish Gala, a dinner and live auction. This year will include
an after party for younger professionals to get involved. The
Big Wish Gala is going to be held August 4 th at The Seelbach
Hotel in downtown Louisville.
“Everything we raise goes directly to wishes here in Kentucky,”
Hyde said. “Make-A-Wish isn’t some far away thing. It’s
right here. We’re going to do whatever it takes to get these
wishes granted.”
“We try to build up their wish journey and help these kids
stay involved afterward,” Hyde explained. “For example, we
recently invited all of our families to a summer camp for a
day. It was something that a lot of these kids don’t normally
get to do and it let families spend time with others going
through similar circumstances.”
The Kentucky chapter of Make-A-Wish hosts three fundrais-
ing events throughout the year. The first is Walk for Wishes.
This year was the seventh anniversary and took place at
Kentucky Kingdom. More than 40 Make-A-Wish families
attended and $10 from every ticket sold that day went to
the charity.

Second, there is Make-A-Wish Day at Keeneland where each
horse farm adopts a child’s wish. The third event is the Big
