A Communication from Annette

Last Vital Link we met Annette , our new Communications Officer . Here she tells us more …
I live in Cambridgeshire with my husband Doug and our 9-year-old daughter . My background is editorial , with the last 14 years working at Cambridge University Press & Assessment on textbook publishing and exam board communications . I also volunteered for 10 years with Christian Aid .
I believe God has led me to this role . I was praying about whether to change careers . In 2020 , I helped to start up a new group at our church for people with learning disabilities . I really love it – there is such as sense of joy and fun , focusing on what really matters : God ’ s simple message of love for all people , shown through Jesus .
Welcome Annette ! ( shown here second from left at her church )
When I heard about Through the Roof and the great resources available to churches , I signed up to be a Roofbreaker . When I saw the Communications Officer job , my heart gave a jolt ! I believe God wants me to use my abilities and experience to make TTR known in all the churches in the UK – and all around the world . I pray God will guide me in this .
Please pray for God to share His vision for communicating the work of TTR – showing me what to focus on and how best to spread the vision for disability inclusion . I pray I will rely on God ’ s direction and not my own ideas . May God lead us to make the church the inclusive family that Jesus intended . Amen .

Welcome Katie

Welcome to Katie Mobbs , our new Outreach Coordinator
I ’ m Katie and it is a privilege to begin work as Outreach Coordinator for Through the Roof . I have Cerebral Palsy and use a wheelchair . My relationship with God is the driving force in my life . From an early age , I felt that God was calling me to share my experience of disability to testify that He can turn weakness into strength and can use challenging circumstances for good purposes .
I am committed to empowering other disabled people ; helping them to recognise their value and identity in God and to celebrate the gifts and skills that they bring . I am passionate about helping churches to become places of welcome and belonging for disabled people ; where everyone can contribute as part of the wider community .
I have a background in health and social care law and Independent Advocacy ; helping disabled people to have a voice in key decisions affecting their lives . I have also volunteered with Through the Roof both overseas and within the Roofbreaker Network .
My role will be to support , grow and resource the Roofbreaker Network ; aiming to overcome barriers experienced by disabled people in aspects of Christian life . We exist to demonstrate the love of Jesus , both to and through disabled people , creating a culture where disabled people can give and receive in community with others .
Please pray that God would continue to guide us as we reach out and launch new networks in different locations and contexts . Pray that others would be inspired to come on this journey with us and catch the Gospel vision for disability inclusion . www . throughtheroof . org
