Amethyst is a key accent: In a palette dominated by darks, amethyst stands out as a key accent, reminiscent of moonlight. This colour has a cold, glassy quality that complements the blue tones of this palette
Darks are two-toned: One of the most important shifts for colour this season is the move towards more complex, layered tones. For Nocturne, this can be seen in colours such as viridian and nightshade, which have a shrouded quality that makes them appear almost black
Reds are richer: Red is one of the most important tones throughout A/W 17/18, and takes on a richer, more dramatic quality within the Nocturne palette – less sweet cherry, and more deep merlot
Jewel tones are piercing: Tourmaline and cat eye – a green-tinged yellow – have a piercing quality when set against moodier tones, and are essential for counterbalancing this palette’s darkness
Introducing the core palette: for the first time,
My core pallett is a definitive edit of base colours to build my collection around. Selected colours from the core palette have also been suggested with the other palettes throughout this trend report.
All merchandising plans should include colour, not only for displays or in the window displays but also in store as well. Different coloured accents within rails can create a pleasing impact for the customer. Visually painting the store with colourful focal points will help draw shoppers to those key areas. Having our key colour schemes in an amongst the VM will create a more aesthetically pleasing store and will draw customers to shop the theme.
