The Store layout
The layout of the store is just as important as the window display, the displays instore and the clothing areas should visually draw people to buy clothing and increase sales.
1. As a visual merchandiser you should be on the shop floor from 7am. The first task you need to complete is housekeeping. This should involve: sweeping the floor, checking mannequins are in tact,
making the general appearance of the store fresh and clean
2. Next, you must strip the walls of the current displays and either find a suitable place on the shop floor for that stock or store it away.
3. Then, (this can be planned the night before), you must organise the trends you would like to display and follow the colour scheme and trends from this book
4. Next, the fittings need to be secured to the wall. The heights of the bars need to be varied and adjusted according to what type of garment is being hung there. For example, a jumpsuit would need to be placed on a high bar so the bottom of the garment would not touch the floor and become dirty.
5. After this, the stock needs to be taken from the stock room and sorted onto the bars. The rails should not be cramped with stock and there should be a variety of sizes.
6. The garments need to be arranged so the colours are broken up among others.
