SO MANY OF US ARE TRYING TO ENTER ANOTHER YEAR WITH BRIGHTER HOPES FOR THE FUTURE . And though our minds are on new opportunities and chances to regain some semblance of our old routines , in reality it ’ s clear that our worlds have changed forever because of the COVID-19 pandemic . We ’ re on entirely new footing , and so we must change , adapt , adjust and move ahead with bravery and a resolve to continue on .

In this issue , learn how you can support dedicated Charm City entrepreneurs , hoteliers and restaurateurs as we focus on recovery here and nationwide . So many of our neighborhood businesses have adapted to new guidelines and prioritized safety by getting GBAC STAR accreditation ( see page 23 for more information ) while presenting updated and exciting offerings to out-oftown travelers and local regulars alike .
And during a time when our nation is finally addressing and discussing issues of racial injustice , diversity , equity and inclusion , let ’ s remember that the history of Black people in Baltimore is long . Now is the time to recognize the contributions of African Americans in our city and beyond . See page 27 for details on how to observe Black History Month in ways that are celebratory and social-distance-friendly .
We invite you to spend the season in appreciation of what we ’ ve learned and the greatness we have yet to accomplish . Let ’ s continue to encourage each other , as residents and visitors with various backgrounds , as we appreciate our city ’ s ever-present charm this winter and beyond .
