National Great Blacks In Wax Museum
It’ s famous for a reason. This one-of-a-kind museum solely dedicated to studying and preserving African American history was the first wax museum in Baltimore. Though it had reduced hours due to the pandemic at press time( view the website for the latest information), visitors could still visit to take in life-sized and lifelike wax figures, including those of lauded author Zora Neale Hurston, who had city roots and graduated from Morgan State’ s high school in 1918, and jazz legend Billie Holiday( AKA Lady Day), who was raised in Baltimore.
The Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture
Located in downtown Baltimore, this museum brings 400 years of Maryland African American history to life, including exhibits in the areas of industry, politics, leisure activities, sports, media, the arts, education, the military and more. It reopened with enhanced safety protocols in September 2020 and boasts a collection of more than 10,000 objects. Visit to see its interactive and educational offerings.
