ITINERARIES
DAY 1
Head to NORTHWEST BALTIMORE to explore the finds at Sankofa African & World Bazaar , a combination retail store and museum . Founder Esther Armstrong had been operating her boutique focused on African objects and art for 26 years , and last year , moved it from Charles Village to its new location just north of Druid Hill Park . Here , she ’ s added a new , interactive non-profit cultural center and children ’ s museum . Aimed at older elementary students , the museum introduces kids to cultural traditions from all 54 African nations . The space is divided into five regional sections , and includes traditional clothing , ceremonial objects and ancient artifacts .
A 10-minute drive east transports you to the Baltimore Museum of Art ’ s robust collection . Travel back in time to the ancient city of Antioch to see the classical Greek and Roman style of these grand and elaborate mosaics that line the walls . This free museum is also home to a robust collection of works that span centuries and many different cultures for a dynamic experience .
