The M / V Double G is a small and quiet charter boat, allowing Captain Paul Davis with Gallant Adventures to maneuver into areas that bigger boats can’ t. With 360-degree viewing onboard, consider it an intimate base camp for an outdoor adventure.
While Sitka is home to many accomplished captains, Captain Brian with Sitka Sound Tours is a published biologist with a deep appreciation for the natural world. You’ ll find his enthusiasm for Sitka’ s wildlife, big and small, is infectious.
To explore Sitka on your own terms, consider renting a bicycle from Yellow Jersey Cycles. You can ride all 14 miles of road, explore Sitka’ s many beaches, or reach our more distant trailheads.
WHETHER YOU WANT TO EXPLORE Sitka’ s main attractions or get off the beaten path, small tours are some of the best ways to experience our island. From organized bus tours to an afternoon on a local wildlife charter to a bike ride through the Tongass, the possibilities for adventure in Sitka are limitless.
Operating since 1964, Sitka Tours offers a selection of itineraries that range from one to 3.5 hours. Hop on one of their shuttles headed to the Alaska Raptor Center, an animal sanctuary and the only full-service avian hospital in Alaska, and Fortress of the Bear, a rescue center with a brand-new building that offers unbeatable views of their bears in residence.
While our paved roads are smooth sailing, you won’ t want to miss Sitka’ s new single-track biking trail weaving through the hemlocks of the Tongass National Forest. Driven by the energy of the Sitka Cycling Club and created entirely by volunteers, the trail is an impressive feat. You can access it through Sitka’ s Cross Trail, between the Baranof Street and Sitka High School entrances.
For even more tour options, check out page 53 of our Directory, or when in town, visit Harrigan Centennial Hall where you’ ll find many friendly tour operators waiting to take you on the trip of a lifetime.

For a cultural and historical tour, make your reservation with Sitka Tribal Tours, a division of Sitka Tribe of Alaska. Their narrated cultural tours include a Naa Kahidi dance performance with generations of Tlingit dancers in their traditional regalia. In addition, you’ ll have time to stop for some scenic photography spots and a walk through Sitka National Historical Park.
From Crescent Harbor, you’ ll see our many wildlife viewing charters preparing for a day on the water. When you book a tour with A Whale’ s Song Expeditions, you’ ll learn from certified onboard naturalists and wildlife photographers about our local ecosystems.
