YOUR VISIT TO SITKA
Take a stroll through downtown, and you’ll find a tasty treat no matter
your preference. Dine outdoors with a view of ANB Harbor from the
Katlian Street restaurants. Longliner Restaurant offers a variety of
seafood appetizers, and at Mean Queen at Totem Square, you can
devour fresh oysters on the half shell and ceviche prepared with locally
Talon Lodge
caught seafood.
Uniquely Sitkan, Beak offers a special take on everything from salmon
chowder to black cod tips. The historic Sitka Hotel & Restaurant has
put their own tasty twist on seafood appetizers, including salmon bites
and seafood nachos.
If you’re in the mood for pub-style dining, the Bayview Pub offers
rockfish burgers paired with house-cut bacon and blue cheese fries. In
the center of downtown, the Westmark Raven Dining Room & Lounge
serves up halibut nuggets, calamari, and huge salads topped with your
choice of seafood.
On the north end of town, Halibut Point Crab & Chowder can be
found at Old Sitka Dock, Sitka’s cruise terminal. This family run business
serves up sumptuous, steaming king crab legs and whole Dungeness
Talon Lodge
crab. Heading toward the south end of town, Pizza Express offers a
filling halibut wrap and a classic halibut and chips basket. No matter
your stomach’s desire, Sitka is sure to satisfy your seafood cravings with

Bring the Sea Home
WHETHER YOU’RE HERE ON AN EXTENDED STAY or arrive via
cruise ship for the day, you don’t have to leave Sitka empty-
handed. Visitors of any kind can buy and send fresh, frozen
seafood directly to their homes or purchase local catch to
prepare in a vacation rental or over a campfire.
• 4 medium halibut filets, trimmed
(can substitute with rockfish)
• 1 large lemon, zest and juice
• 3 tbsp salted butter, melted
• 1 large bunch fresh parsley, finely chopped
(reserve some for garnish)
• ½ tsp salt
• Fresh ground black pepper to taste
• 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
If you want to shop where Sitkans do for fish and seafood,
head over to Sitka Fresh Retail (northpacificseafoods.com),
the retail store at Sitka Sound Seafoods. Located within a
waterfront seafood processing complex in Sitka’s Historic
District, Sitka Fresh Retail is no ordinary fishmonger. Step
inside the closet-sized retail area, and you’ll find two glass-
front freezer cases filled with frozen halibut, rockfish, shrimp,
and of course, salmon. Simply tell the cashier you’d like to
ship your purchase to your home, and Sitka Fresh Retail will
send your “catch” from their door to yours. d i r e c t i o n s
Less than two miles north of downtown, as you head toward
the Old Sitka Dock, is Sea Mart Quality Foods (seamart.
com). Located at the very edge of where Sitka meets the
sea, you can’t miss the million-dollar view of towering Mt.
Edgecumbe across the Sitka Sound. Check out the selection
of local seafood, all of which is ready to be cooked same day
or brought home with you at the end of your stay. Those who
are lucky enough to snag their own catch can bring their
seafood fortune to Sea Mart’s butcher to filet and vacuum
seal for its journey to your freezer. And, the customer service
doesn’t stop there; their staff will also help you find a fish
box, packing supplies, and shipping materials to prepare Cook for around 10 – 15 minutes or until
the fish is flakey; time will depend on the
thickness of filets.
Prepare grill by heating to high, or about 375 –
400 degrees.
While the grill is heating, place trimmed fish
filets on large tray and drizzle with melted
butter, lemon zest and juice, fresh parsley,
salt, and pepper.
Brush grill with olive oil, and place prepared
filets on grill.
Remove to platter, garnish with remaining
parsley, and then enjoy!
everything for shipment.
