Places Just For Kids!
Enjoy the extensive children’s collection and wall-
to-wall seaside windows at the newly remodeled
Sitka Public Library, or walk to the Sitka Community Playground, Sitka’s newest attraction for kids.
A grassroots community effort built this innovative and ADA compliant playground with fundraising
and a lot of love.
Follow the walkway or stairs to this historical Sitka Sound overlook in the heart of downtown Sitka. Interpretive plaques outline the site’s significance as a Tlingit fort (Noow Tlein), Russian headquarters for the Alaska Transfer — where Alaska was publicly transferred from Russia to the United States during a flag ceremony
in 1867. Head to a New Archangel Dancers
performance for more Russian history and dances.
Cannons to Climb
on Baranof Castle Hill
Encounter brown and black bears at Fortress of the Bear, eagles and raptors at Alaska Raptor Center,
and salmon and other sea life at Sitka Sound Science Center in Sitka’s favorite animal centers.
Up Close and Personal Encounters With Local Wildlife (guide included)
Hit the trail and discover the many eagles and ravens that create the soundtrack for the forest. Catch a glimpse of a sea otter, sea lion or whale spout from the Sitka Sea Walk. Uncover crabs, small fish and octopuses along the rocky beach of Sitka National Historical Park at low tide.
Unlimited

at Totem Square. Continue down the sidewalk to experience working harbors, float plane docks, the national historic landmark Alaska Native Brotherhood Hall, the Mariners Wall Memorial, colorful local
harbors and busy seafood processing plants.
