In the half hour show, stories are told and the di erent types of dances are shared. After the show concludes, visitors have the opportunity to meet the performers, take photos and ask questions. Tribal Tours continues to share the Tlingít culture while also giving their tribal members the chance to celebrate their heritage. “It’s a great opportunity for young people to continue engaging in the songs and dances in a traditional way,” says Tonia. “Also, it gives young people the opportunity to really have a sense of pride in their culture and share that with visitors who come to Sitka.” Though there are many ways to experience Sitka, Tribal Tours gives a unique insight into the history and culture that have helped make Sitka what it is today. Dancers range in age from babies in carriers dancing with their moms, aunties or sisters to elders sitting on the stage watching younger generations perform. They charm the crowd with their Native songs and traditional dances performed while proudly wearing regalia, the robes of their clans.
