While landing a seat aboard the Xáat Kwáani may come down to the luck of the draw , visitors of Sitka have the unique opportunity to see another one of Crystal ’ s works year-round . Painted in 2022 , a downtown basketball court along the Sea Walk features a bold Tlingít formline design . The court , which was painted by hand with squeegees , uses shades of bright blue and red to pull the design across the entire surface . Clean lines and thick strokes atop the court perfectly illustrate Crystal ’ s mission of integrating a traditional artform into today ’ s society , a difficult feat that her artistry makes look easy .
Whether you ’ re riding inside the Salmon People plane on your way to Sitka or stopping by the Lincoln Street basketball court to snap a photo with the giant mural , you ’ re bound to feel the importance of Crystal ’ s work when you see it in person . If you share a selfie from Sitka ’ s court , don ’ t forget to use # visitsitka , and keep an eye out for items from Trickster Company , the Worl family business , in the shops around town , like Xút ’ aa Hídi , so you can bring home a piece of her work .
