While the fish are plentiful , it ’ s often the hosts who keep guests coming back each year , and Vonnie ’ s Charters @ Halibut Point Lodge is no exception . Vonnie ’ s has been cultivating experiences for clients since 1995 , both on and off the ocean .
Once a cozy B & B with a single fishing boat , Vonnie ’ s now offers a full-blown lodge , big enough to host 18 guests , and three aluminum vessels that provide 360-degree fishing access , state-of-the-art equipment , and heated enclosed cabins .
While aspects of Vonnie ’ s have changed over the years , one thing remains the same : owner Vonnie Gun ’ s passion for providing a professional , yet comfortable experience for her guests . Her motto is , “ Tell us what you need , and we ’ ll find a way to get it for you .” Package stays span from 3 to 5 days of fishing and include lodging , gear , unlimited fish processing , snack , drinks , and meals . Guests even have the unique opportunity to watch their meals prepared in front of them , and the chefs pride themselves on teaching visitors creative new ways to cook their catch at home .
Each fishing boat provides experienced deckhands and Coast Guard licensed captains , all of whom know the best spots for fishing and avoiding some of Sitka ’ s harsher weather .
