The Kent County Show is a time-honoured event that has featured on Kent ’ s summer calendar for almost a century . Established in 1923 by the Kent County Agricultural Society , the event showcases all aspects of farming , agriculture and rural life . Crowds flock every year to the three day event to celebrate the region ’ s finest animals , food , vintage vehicles , retail stands and more , all at the stunning Detling Showground .
Kent County Agricultural Society is a registered charity , whose mission is to support the local farming scene ; promoting and supporting local farming communities and providing educational services on food and farming and its significant importance .
FOODIE HEAVEN Discover some of Kent ’ s finest food and drink offerings at the show in one of the many tents along the way . From gourmet takeaways , pies and cheese , to sweet treats , such as ; fudge , strawberries and ice cream , there ’ s sure to be something to tickle every visitor ’ s taste buds . Not forgetting the freshly grown local produce available to sample or take home ! All washed down with your favourite Kentish tipple of course , you may even stumble across Kent ’ s very own Biddenden Vineyard team . WHOLE LOT OF LIVESTOCK Join the team in celebrating quality farming with a visit to one of the animal tents ! Spot cattle , sheep , chickens , goats and lots of other furry friends ; all the finest of their kind . In the Wool Tent , you can even get up close and personal and learn all about the art of sheep shearing .
SHOW JUMPING SENSATION Head to the show ’ s equine area and watch the very best tackle show jumping ! Keep your eyes peeled for other classes , including an exercise driving class and the side saddle championships – it ’ s all pretty impressive .
STEP BACK IN TIME Steam engines , pre and post war vehicles and tractors – you ’ ll find them all in the fantastic Heritage Section at the show . Great for families , step back in time on a nostalgic journey and discover the UK ’ s motoring legacy . Other activities have also previously included Kent Youth Trials Bikes ; watch in awe as they tackle some tricky obstacles .
FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY While bringing together the best of Kent ’ s animals and food , there are also plenty of exciting activities to watch and take part in . Discover the flower and woodland craft workshops , cookery demonstrations , live music , dog agility classes and fun fair – a firm favourite amongst the kids .
