Food Waste Reduction Donation by Diversion
Did you know that 16 MILLION tons
(25 percent) of all annual food waste comes
from hospitality organizations? Do you want to help divert environmental
waste and make an impact on local communities?
The Baltimore Convention Center in partnership with
Centerplate and the Maryland Food Bank makes
reaching those in need easier every year.
Centerplate at The Baltimore Convention Center was
the very first organization to donate food on the
MealConnect platform in Maryland and is a proud
champion for its use in the hospitality industry. Helping
to launch this food donation platform on the web to
bring food viable prepared donations DIRECTLY to
soup kitchens and other Baltimore charities!
Conventions, Meetings, and Trade Shows leave more
than just memories. On average the Center donates
over 30 tons of non-edible materials annually to a
variety of our local partner charities such as Second
Chance and The Loading Dock.
With our client’s active participation during the planning
process, this can be an impactful feel-good story for
staff, exhibitors and our community.
