MEETINGS AND EVENTS ARE AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE FABRIC OF OUR HISTORIC CITY , AND WE TAKE OUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS YOUR HOST SERIOUSLY . Tourism generated $ 10.7 billion in total business sales in 2018 , with more than half of all visitor spending ( 51 %) going to lodging , food and beverages . Knowing this , we continue to develop programs to sustain great experiences and make them better , even as we cope with unprecedented and challenging world events .

We ’ ve done the work and taken the right precautions to give you confidence when you visit . For instance , more than 200 of our venues , hotels , restaurants and attractions — including the Baltimore Convention Center — have committed to becoming GBAC STAR accredited by learning about the best cleaning and sanitization processes . And , in 2020 , as social and racial justice issues captured the world ’ s attention , we invested in diversity , equity and inclusion training for our city ’ s hospitality staff so that we can provide a welcoming and comfortable space for all . We ' re also asking local hoteliers , restaurants and attractions to sign a pledge and take a training to show their commitment to fostering a welcoming destination for ALL travelers — Black , trans , Asian , international , people with disabilities , etc .— no matter who they are or where they come from . Keep an eye out for the “ Warm Welcome ” window clings when you ’ re in town to see who has taken the training .
We hope you enjoy this meeting planning guide , which includes tips and advice for thriving and adapting to current conditions — from organizing and developing successful virtual events to convening in-person meetings at open-air attractions and spaces .
Thank you for your interest in our great city . It ’ s always our pleasure to host you .
