“ My intention was to unify the connection between food and culture.”
KEYSTONE KORNER
Modeled after owner Todd Barkan’ s legendary San Francisco jazz club of the same name, this Harbor East revival pays homage to Baltimore’ s jazz history with live performances every night of the week. Go for the show, but don’ t miss the food— the menu, developed by Michelin-starred chef and restaurateur Robert Wiedmaier, offers up nostalgiatinged Americana dishes alongside classic cocktails.
CIELO VERDE
When the vegetarian cafe Encantada closed at the American Visionary Art Museum last year, Baltimore foodies waited eagerly to find out what would end up in its charming third-story space. Now, we know: The space has reopened as Cielo Verde, a new concept from chef Irena Stein, who owns the Venezuelan cuisine favorite Alma Cocina Latina. Currently operating as a private events space with a focus on sustainable food, Cielo Verde offers sandwiches, salads, soups and arepitas.“ My intention was to unify the connection between food and culture— a culture where there is a deep-rooted appreciation of food that transcends flavor, into gratitude of the earth and bounty from which it came,” Stein explained in a statement.
