The Friends and Family focus on community didn ’ t start with the pandemic . The eatery — which offers plant-based bites such as a scramble made with roasted corn , black beans , purple cabbage , sliced radish and salsa verde topped with plant-based elote sauce along with homemade vegan biscuits and gluten-free and vegan cocktails — also prioritizes sustainability and supporting local business partners .
“ We focus on purchasing from local and / or family-owned businesses wherever possible ,” Lawhorn explains . “ Some of our favorite local partners are Vent Coffee , Wild Bay Kombucha , Tortilleria Sinaloa and Lorena Latino Market . Seasonal produce also is a staple , along with eco-friendly and biodegradable packaging when available .”
