REGINALD F . LEWIS MUSEUM OF MARYLAND AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY & CULTURE
As the state ’ s largest museum devoted to African American artifacts , the Lewis museum has a one-of-akind 10,000-piece collection that spans 400 years of history through artifacts , objects , documents , artworks and photographs . The museum showcases local artists and special topics . For example , recent exhibits explored how archival collections can help tell nuanced stories of slavery and a photography tribute to Robert Houston focused on social commentary . The modern building , located just two blocks east of the Inner Harbor , hosts events from intimate dinner parties to large receptions in several of its spaces , including the upper lobby reception area .
EUBIE BLAKE CULTURAL CENTER
Named in honor of the great jazz pianist ( and Baltimore native ), the Eubie Blake Cultural Center supports dance , music and arts programs — but the center also offers up its historic building for events , receptions , parties and fundraisers . Spaces include the first-floor gallery , outdoor Billie Holiday Garden and a second-floor banquet room with original maple hardwood floors .
