Company Culture

POURING INTO THE COMMUNITY
Remembering that our foremost mission is to positively impact the lives of those who live and work in the city, Visit Baltimore staff seized numerous opportunities to give back to the community in FY25. In April, Executive Sales & Customer Experience Coordinator Dara McBee led Visit Baltimore staff in creating fidget bags for Mended Little Hearts of Greater Baltimore, which distribute the bags to pediatric cardiology patients at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Later that month, Interim President & CEO Kireem Swinton teamed up with Downtown Partnership to participate in the Mayor’ s Annual Spring cleanup. In May, Visit Baltimore staff spent an afternoon volunteering with Art with a Heart. Volunteers prepared class materials, worked on a public art project and helped finish art pieces for HeARTwares, the organization’ s social enterprise retail store.

OFFICE OUTINGS & CELEBRATIONS
Visit Baltimore kicked off FY25 with an afternoon at the Maryland Zoo! Friends and family members of Visit Baltimore staff were invited to enjoy a picnic lunch and explore the Zoo’ s grounds at their leisure. In the spring, we continued our annual tradition of attending the Orioles’ Opening Day at Camden Yards as a company. New this year, Visit Baltimore began offering staff four free passes per day to the National Aquarium, which could be shared with clients, friends or family members.
As much as we engaged with and invested in our community in FY25, we also encouraged Visit Baltimore staff members to invest in their mental and physical well-being. Advancing our core value of mindfulness, Sales Coordinator Eboni Kirkland continued her“ Mindful Minute” series at our monthly All Staff meetings, sharing ways to practice meditation and self-care while in the office. Bluebird Yoga & Wellness pampered us with chair massages, and FX Well shared healthy recipes and nutrition tips during a Lunch & Learn that also involved a relaxing Halloween painting activity.
Visit Baltimore also welcomed guests from several partner institutions to speak with staff. State’ s Attorney Ivan J. Bates discussed his goals for his tenure and his efforts to reduce juvenile crime rates. Representatives from Miss Shirley’ s and Fogo de Chao gave an update on their business offerings and illuminated how they can service sales and convention clients.
