Visit Baltimore Annual Report FY24 2024 | Page 5

A message from the President & CEO and Board Chair

As we reflect on the events of this past fiscal year , we are reminded of the strength and importance of our community . Together , we have navigated challenges and built momentum toward a brighter future for Baltimore . The collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge was a true test of our resilience , and while the devastation was significant , we are proud of our city ’ s response . Because of the hard work and dedication of our workforce , we were able to reopen port operations in just 11 weeks — a feat many thought would take 11 months . This rapid recovery underscores the critical role Baltimore plays in America ’ s economy , as countless goods that keep the nation moving pass through our port . Thanks to the tireless efforts of first responders , port workers and the entire community , Baltimore has emerged stronger than ever , highlighting not only Baltimore ’ s importance to the State of Maryland , but to the nation at large .
Fiscal Year 2024 has been a year of innovation for Visit Baltimore , laying the foundation for the exciting years ahead . Our team led creative , community-focused activations at trade shows across the country , including PCMA , IMEX and the ASAE Annual Meeting , where we proudly won Best in Show for trade show booth excellence in 2023 , and we are thrilled to share that Baltimore was selected to host the ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition in 2033 . To elevate Baltimore ’ s brand , we engaged a new creative agency to help reinforce our philosophy that to know Baltimore is to love Baltimore . We gathered valuable insights from board members , community leaders , meeting planners and Visit Baltimore staff to guide our future trajectory through a strategic visioning process . Additionally , we debuted “ Smalltimore ,” a traveling popup activation designed to give prospective visitors a sampling of the Baltimore experience in their own communities , making Baltimore ’ s charm and hospitality more accessible than ever .
We are thrilled to celebrate the incredible momentum taking place in Baltimore during this transformative time . Our city is becoming a hub for cutting-edge ideas and collaboration , and we were honored to be named one of the New York Times ’ “ 52 Places to Go in 2024 .” This recognition is a testament to the exciting developments shaping our city .
Looking ahead , the future of Baltimore promises even more — connectivity , inclusivity , accessibility and innovation . We are excited to continue this journey with you , our valued partners , as we work together to promote a brighter , more vibrant Baltimore .
